White

Chesapeake-On Sunday, May 5, 2024, Vivian Estella Sparrow-White, affectionally known as "Bip", crossed into eternal life with Christ. Vivian was born to the late Ola Marie Sparrow-Brooks and George Russell Bell in Norfolk County, Virginia.
Vivian graduated from George Washington Carver High School and Crestwood School of Nursing. She also attended Oscar Smith High School and studied bookkeeping. She went on to Missionary School through Providence Congregational Christian Church.
On November 22, 1969, Vivian married the LOVE of her life, the late Hugh Willie White. Vivian was a lifelong member of Providence United Church of Christ, Chesapeake, VA where she was a Treasurer for 17 years, Trustee, served on the Deaconess Board,Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School Teacher, Senior Choir, Nurses Unit, Usher, Junior Choir, and the No. 2 Choir serving under Rev. R.R. Briggs. She retired from DECA Portsmouth Commissary in 1997 after 30 dedicated years ofservice.
Vivian was predeceased by her parents, the late George Russell Bell and Ola Marie Sparrow Brooks; three brothers: William Henry Brooks, Joseph Cornelious Brooks and Edward N. Brooks Sr.; two sisters: Ola Beatrice Brooks-King and Gladys Elizabeth Cheeks-Gaynor; three bonus children: Donald White, Reathea White and Willie Lee White; one bonus grandson, Troy.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, her best friend and sister, Rosa Victoria Sparrow-Givens and a special brother-in-love, Woodrow Givens of Chesapeake, VA; one brother, George Sparrow of Chesapeake, VA; her god daughter and devoted caretaker, Chystell Bright-Holland; niece, Ida Jordan Hunter; three bonus grandchildren: Jonathan, Jamaine, and Willie Lee; stepdaughter-in-love, Helen Lee; three godsons: Andre Twine, Troy Cuffee, and Carl Cuffee; and a host of nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces, nephews, great nephews, great-great nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held noon Wednesday; May 15, 2024 at Providence UCC; 2200 Vicker Avenue; Chesapeake, VA 23324. Her earthly remains will be placed in church at 10:00am. Viewing will be 4-6pm Tuesday at Fitchett-Mann FS; 1821 E. Liberty Street; Chesapeake, VA 23324. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park; Chesapeake, VA .
