Chesapeake- On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Steven Gorum, Sr. transitioned to his eternal home.

Steven was born on December 17, 1968, at Norfolk Community Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, to Gloria G. Gorum and the late Everett W. Gorum, Sr.

Steven was educated in the Chesapeake Public School System and graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1987. He continued his education at Norfolk State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation in 1993.

Steven had a lifelong love for football. He played throughout high school and college, and he remained a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders, formerly known as the Washington Redskins.

Dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people, Steven was a Behavioral Specialist Counselor, serving the cities of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.

Steven's life was marked by his love for his family, his passion for football, and his unwavering dedication to serving others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Steven leaves to cherish his precious memories his three children: Taylor Gorum, Steven Gorum, Jr., and Courtney Gorum, all of Chesapeake; his loving mother, Gloria G. Gorum of Chesapeake; two brothers: Everett W. Gorum, Jr. of Georgia and Terry A. Gorum of Chesapeake; one sister, Evette White of New York; one nephew, Everett L. Gorum, Sr. of Florida; one niece, Stephanie Taylor of Norfolk; one great-niece, Keyana Gorum of Florida; two great-nephews, Everett L. Taylor Gorum, Jr. and Emery Gorum of Florida; two maternal aunts; seven paternal aunts; and a host of family and friends.
