Chesapeake-Sebrina Yvette Jacobs, a woman of strength, love, and quiet generosity, entered eternal rest on Sunday; March 29, 2026. She was born on January 24, 1961, in Norfolk, Virginia. During her high school years, she moved to Chesapeake, Virginia, where she remained a proud and devoted resident for over 40 years.
Sebrina was preceded in death by her parents, Junius Jacobs and Estora Jacobs. She leaves behind three children whom she deeply poured into: Travis Jason Hicks, Sharkeya Evette Hicks, and Samuel Wayne Calvert Jr. Sebrina was a beloved and devoted mother and her children were her pride, her joy, and her purpose.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to: Sidney Byrd, Demonte Woods, Tai'Kaun Brown, Alexus Hicks, Rashada Medley, Tiaja Faison, Kamya Burnell, Samuel Wayne Calvert III, Travis Hicks, Amir Medley, Samiya Calvert, Naviah Hicks, and Taion Hicks. Each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and brought her immeasurable joy. Also left to cherish memories are her loving siblings: Carlton Jacobs, Steven Jacobs, Allen Jacobs, and Rhonda Jacobs, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Sebrina dedicated over 15 years of service as a school bus driver with Chesapeake Public Schools, where she became a familiar and comforting presence to many children and families. She also worked for over 15 years as an HRT Operator, demonstrating her strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to serving her community every day. Her giving spirit extended beyond her work; she donated school supplies to Thurgood Marshall School, always finding ways to give back and uplift those around her.
Sebrina was a woman of many talents. She had a creative spirit and loved working with her hands, making earrings, bracelets, waist beads, and other crafts—each piece a reflection of her patience and artistry. She was a proud union member and a hardworking woman who believed in showing up, providing, and standing strong for her family. More than anything, Sebrina will be remembered for her love—her steady presence, her giving nature, and the way she made people feel seen, cared for, and supported.
