Norfolk-On Sunday; October 5, 2025, our beloved Octavia Evangeline Brewer gained her angel wings. Octavia E Brewer, lovingly known as "Taye," was born October 11, 1967, to the late Florida and John Brewer, in Norfolk Community Hospital. She grew up surrounded by love and
laughter and carried that same spirit throughout her life.

Taye attended Indian River High School and later received her CNA training from Tidewater Community College. She was a proud lifelong resident of Chesapeake before moving to Norfolk, where she shared her home with her beloved dog, JB.  Taye had a heart of gold. She loved to shop, laugh, and spend time with the people who meant the most to her. Her favorite moments were spent surrounded by family, and cheering on their favorite team the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was kind, always giving her last and always trying to make people laugh.

Taye leaves behind three loving sons: Erico (Helen) Brewer, Patrick (Amanda) Sawyer, and Jamar (Elisabeth) Sawyer; twelve beautiful  grandchildren; her siblings: Enrico Brewer, Lorenzo Brewer, Shannon Brewer and Sharon Brewer. She is preceded in death by her sister Michele Hill and her niece Geneva Brewer.  She will also be dearly missed by her 26 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, family, and countless friends who loved her deeply. Her special friend, Samuel Hucks; her second mom, Elizabeth Hucks; and her dear coworker, Andrew, held a special place in her heart.

A funeral service will be held Noon Saturday; October 18, 2025 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers Street; Chesapeake, VA  23324.   Viewing will be 4-6pm Friday.  Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
