Marva Fitchette
Langaster
June 19, 1938 – August 12, 2025
Portsmouth-Marva went to join her Heavenly Father Tuesday afternoon, August 12, 2025 after a gradual decline in heatth. She was supported by her family and caregivers during the last days of her life.
Marva was born in Chesapeake to loving parents, Samuel and Claire Fitchette. She grew up in a happy home that she shared with her four sisters. Marva attended G.W. Carver High School and after graduation, she met the love of her life Harry Langaster, Jr., who she married on April 14, 1942. They settled in Portsmouth, VA and remained in a loving marriage for 58 years.
Marva worked for many years at General Electric where she met a lifelong friend, Jean Ward . She also worked for Chesapeake Regional Hospital until she retired to care for her mother. She shared a love for dogs and children and those who knew her can attest to her lifelong devotion to her Lord and Savior.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Claire Fitchette; her husband, Harry Langaster, Jr; three sisters: Harmeedah Tawfeek, Carlota V. Fitchette and Marchetta F. James; her Godmother, Maggie Bell; and favorite cousin, Anna Patton.
She is survived by her sister, Illona F. Burgess; Godsister, Erma B. Fields; Godbrother, Walter Bright; and several nieces, nephews; cousins, other relatives and friends. Marva lived a life filled with faith, happiness and love.
A graveside service will be held Noon Friday; August 22, 2025 at Roosevelt Memorial Park; Chesapeake, VA. There will be no public viewing. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers.
