Obituary

Chesapeake-On the evening of Thursday; May 14, 2026, our beloved Mother Marion Lee Brown, entered eternal peace. She was born to the late Bennie and Birda Wilson Lee on June 2, 1927. In Norfolk County (now known as the City of Chesapeake) in the community of West Munden. She retired from Norfolk General Hospital as a Register Nurse after 22 years.

Marion attended public schools in Norfolk County and was a graduate of Providence High School. At the age of sixteen she attended Norfolk State College in Norfolk Virginia which at that time was a two-year college. After completing her studies at Norfolk State College, she attended Saint Phillip school of nursing in Richmond, Virginia which was a division of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. In the field of nursing, she worked at Depaul Hospital, Norfolk General Hospital, Kings Daughters visiting home service and Norfolk General Clinic. Marion accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a youth usher and later became the secretary of Sunday School. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt but most of all, a loving mother.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son John W. Brown, Jr. of Roanoke, Virginia, Norman Ray Brown and wife Jeannette Brown of Currituck, North Carolina, Michael K. Brown and wife Diane Brown of Chesapeake, Virginia, her aunt Doris Lee Williams of Bowie, Maryland; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on 10:00 am Tuesday; June 2, 2026 at First Baptist Church West Munden; 1541 Lyons Avenue; Chesapeake, VA. The family will be receiving friends on 4-6pm Monday; June 1, 2026 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1821 E. Liberty Street; Chesapeake, VA 23324.  Please keep the family in prayer.
