Chesapeake-On Monday; March 16, 2026, Louis Alfred Thomas, Jr. was called to his next life while at Chesapeake General Hospital.  He was born in Newport News, VA  on January 11, 1973.

"Big Lou", as he was affectionately called, attended York County Public Schools where he graduated from Tabb High School.  He went on to further his education at Thomas Nelson Community College, St. Paul's College and Norfolk State University where he played football (quarterback) and studied Auto Mechanics.  After a few automotive jobs, he settled at Huntington Inglass Industries aka "The Yard" in Newport News.

He loved every moment at his job and worked hard.  His hard work paid off because it allowed him to start as a Machine Hand in 2007 and work his way up to a foreman.  In the yard, he met someone that would change his life.......with the gift of organ donation.  Scott, we thank you for years of happiness.  We appreciate your kindness shown to our Louis.  You were truly a friend.  We will always remember you in our prayers..... We love You!  "Greater love has no man that this, that a man lay down his life for his friends......"-John 15:13.

Louis is preceded in death in death by his father, Louis Alfred Thomas, Sr. and leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Martina (Tina) Thomas; one son, Louis Alfred Thomas III; and four daughters: Makiah (Pooh) of Richmond, VA, Helana Thomas of Hampton, VA, Beyonnka and Lola Thomas both of the home in Chesapeake, VA; his beloved mother, Dorthea Thomas of York COunty, VA; one brother, Lucious Thomas of York County, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday; March 21, 2026 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers St.; Chesapeake, VA  23324.  Viewing will be 4-6pm Friday.
