Obituary

Chesapeake-On Monday, June 26, 2023, God called home one of his brightest angels, Keyshia ArndrellJames-Mayo. Some affectionally known her as "Fat Kat." After a three-year long battle with cancer, she finally won and gained her wings. She was born on August 8, 1975, to the late Fred James Jr. and Brenda James in Norfolk, VA.

Keyshia spent a majority of her childhood attending Chesapeake Public Schools. Keyshia opened her own tax business, Prosperity Taxes, over 15 years ago. Shekept loyal clients due to her expertise and fairness. On her free time, she enjoyed attending bingo, online shopping, and spending time with her family. To her everyone she loved was family, no matter the genetics. She had a huge heart that could hold so many. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, niece, and cousin. Yet beyond all of those things she still managed to be a confidant, listener, lover, rider, and a source for any and all the information you may need! She was preceded in death by her father, Fred James Jr.; brother, Johnny "J5" James; grandmother,Adele Lewis; nephew, Caymon James and cousin, Marquita Britt. Surviving Keyshia is her husband, Clarence Mayo III, of 26+ years, who resided in Chesapeake,VA; four children: Tosh James, Jamal James, Demeatrey James, and KeAnna James; threesisters: Kimberly James, Shavon James, and Theresa Walker; two brother: late, Johnny "J5" James and Christopher "CJ" Walker; 12 grandchildren who she worshipped; special friends: Catrina Bell, Sassafrass Lee, and Kecia Matthews; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. A Celebration of Keyshia's life will be held 11am Monday; July 3, 3023 at Faith In Action Church; 4603 Cape Henry Avenue; Norfolk, VA 23513. Viewing will be 2-4pm Sunday at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers Street; Chesapeake, VA 23324. Her earthly remains will be placed in Roosevelt Memorial Park; Chesapeake, VA.
