Chesapeake- Johnny Stringer Jr., 72, of Chesapeake, Va entered into eternal rest on Saturday; August 1, 2026, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

Johnny was born on May 27, 1954, in Augusta, GA to the late Ruby and Johnny Stringer. He was the oldest of seven children, five preceded him in death. At the age of 18, Johnny joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for several years. He was stationed at Naval Station Norfolk when he met the love of his life Deborah. Johnny married Deborah in 1976, and three children were born from this union.

Johnny worked for the Dump Furniture Store and retired after working for 29 years. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time with his family, landscaping his outdoor space and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Johnny leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Deborah Stringer; his children; Natasha Jackson (John), Jonquin Stringer and Travis Stringer (Chaquita); 2 grandchildren: Anthony Turner Jr. and Janaya Stringer; his sister, Glenda Stokes (Henry); brother in law, Ronnie Chandler; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service wil take place 1pm Saturday; August 8, 2026 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Service; 1146 Rodgers St; Chesapeake; VA 23324. A visitation will take place Friday; August 7, 2026 from 4-6pm Rodgers St. location.
