Chesapeake It is with profound sadness that James Edward Sparrow Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia peacefully transitioned on Friday, June 27 th , 2025.  James, a lifetime native of Chesapeake, Virginia, was born July 9, 1952, to the late James Edward Sparrow Sr. & Mattie Mildred Sparrow.

"Jimmy" as he was affectionatley known as, graduated from Indian River High School and worked as a machinist during his early adult years. He enjoyed sitting outside, watching westerns, and having family cookouts.

He is preceded in death by his parents James E. Sparrow Sr. & Mattie M. Sparrow; Tennese Boyd (sister); Ruth Privott (sister); Dondra Sparrow (sister-in-law); andVenika Melvin (niece).  Surviving him is Michael Paxton (son); Mattie R. Brooks (sister); Terry L. Sparrow (brother); Leo B. Sparrow (brother); Robin Sparrow (sister-in law); 15 nieces; 4 nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1pm Monday; July 7, 2025 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers Street; Chesapeake, VA  23324.  Viewing will be 2-4pm Sunday.  Please keep the family in your prayers.
