James's Life Journey…….

On Saturday; August 5, 2023, our Heavenly Father called home JAMES EDWARD LEWIS (SKINS). James was born June 23, 1961 in Chesapeake, Virginia to the late Joe Lewis and Alberta Lewis.

James attended Crestwood and Indian River High Schools. He was employed by Mass-Tech and Lewis Cable Company in the capacity of underground cable installer, operating heavy equipment. His work was exceptional in as much as the customer's yards did not look disturbed when the job was finished.

James accepted Christ in 1990 at First Baptist Crestwood where he was active in the male chorus and other choirs, singing and playing the Bass Guitar with his brothers. James loved playing with the family dog "Lil Rock Rock" and tinkering on his vehicles. He could be seen anytime washing, waxing and adding "stuff "to his car.

James was predeceased by three brothers: Joe, William and John. He leaves to cherish his memory four brothers: Roosevelt (Doris), Alvin, Lorenzo and Dewayne; one sister, Shirley; three sistesr-in-laws: Doris, Kim and Queenie; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition there are people he considered "Big Brothers" such as Bishop Rodgers, Steptoe brothers, Marvin Lawrence, Willie Gibbs and Torn Futrell. Good neighbors: Goodman, Madisons, Kerry, Holmes, McCourtney and Haynes families. He will be missed by his loved ones who celebrate the fact that he is at peace and out of pain.

The family would like to thank Chesapeake Regional Cancer Center, Dr. Matthew Siwesi, M.D., Chesapeake Oncology Assoc., Dr Sowjaya Niga MD, and Nurse Nellie CMA for who showed compassion and took special care of our loved one.

A funeral service will be held 11am Saturday; August 12, 2023 at First Baptist Church Crestwood; 4701 Bainbridge Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23320. Viewing will be 4-6pm Friday at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers Street, Chesapeake, VA and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Keep the family in your prayers.
