Obituary

Portsmouth-From the rising of the sun to it's setting, the Lord whispered a word to father Ervin L. Bond in the late evening and called him home on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Ervin L. Bond was better known as "Goat" or "Bond" was loved and respected by many. Ervin was born on April 2, 1959 to Sarah Terry and stepfather William Terry Sr. in North Carolina.

He grew up in North Carolina raised by Pearl Bond and Charlie Bond. He later moved to Virginia with his mother, where he met an abundance of friends and family. During his stay in Virginia he met his significant other, his companion, his lover, and friend Edna L. Gray for 20 beautiful years. Ervin and Edna had 2 beautiful daughters from their union.

Ervin was relentlessly a dedicated and dependable worker at Arreff Terminals Inc for 17 years. He performed countless hours and assisted effortlessly to maintain balance. He developed several friendships throughout the years. He always stayed to himself reflecting nothing but humbleness and peace.

Ervin took a special interest in cooking, crabbing, skating, cars, and motorcycles. His riding partner will always and forever be Darell Wilson. Ervin has unbreakable bonds with some like no other.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Sarah & William Terry; and his oldest son, Corey Lamb. Ervin leaves behind cherished memories of six children: Ervin Bond Jr., Rosalind Bond (Jamal Parker) and Kendrick Bond all of North Carolina; Amari Bond, Joniyah Bond and Jada McFrazier all of Virginia; daughter-in-law, Nakesha Lamb; four siblings: Ralph Bond (Linda) from Georgia, William C. Terry Jr., Loretta Williams, and Janice Baum (Johnnie) all of Virginia. He also leaves behind six grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends

A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday; July 6, 2024 at Providence UCC; 2200 Vicker Avenue; Chesapeake, VA 23324. Viewing will be 4-6pm Friday; July 5, 2024 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1821 E. Liberty Street; Chesapeake, VA 23324
