Chesapeake-Once again in love and infinite wisdom, God sent his angels into our midst, this time releasing from suffering and calling " unto that
new and larger life" the gentle spirit of our beloved, Doris Lee White. She slipped quietly into a peaceful realm of eternal rest at 8:00 am on Saturday; July 5, 2025, in her Chesapeake home surrounded by her loved ones.
Doris L. White, the daughter of the late Velma and William Banks, was born in Norfolk County. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Henry Lee White; her brothers: James Silvels, William Banks, Namon Banks and William Woodhouse; her sister, Delphine Banks-Morris; and one grandson, Henrico White.
Doris received her formal education at Crestwood High School. She began working for the Virginia Beach School system and later worked for the Southeastern Training Center for numerous amount of years. Doris was known for always handling business and playing her lottery numbers. She was always lively and brought laughter wherever she went.
She leaves to cherish her memories: 4 daughters: Theresa Banks of Chesapeake Va, Marie White of Chesapeake Va, Alisha White of North Carolina and Danielle White of Chesapeake Va; one sister, Catherine Jefferson of Norfolk Va; one brother, Lawrence Brickhouse; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, one bonus grandson, Tiemeyer Scott; four special nieces: Cynthia Banks, Stephenie Brickhouse, Tomeka Jefferson and Charlene Banks; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 10am Friday; July 11, 2025, at at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1821 E. Liberty Street; Chesapeake, Virginia 23324. Viewing will be 4-6pm Thursday at Liberty Street location.
