On 8-23-23 Doris Weatherly died peacefully at home in her sleep. Doris was an adoring mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents Millie Detterman and Walter Detterman and her loving husband Howard Ashby Weatherly Sr.

She is survived by her companion of 30yrs Robert Jones, her sons Howard and Brian Weatherly, her brother Henry Detterman, her very special grandchildren Corey and Dede Weatherly and her loving daughter in law Mary Weatherly

She loved to crochet, read books and was a great cook to everyone who walked through the doors at dinner time. She enjoyed sitting on the patio listening to her dingle dings. This was her idea of a peaceful day and enjoying her times with family and friends.

She was a natural nurturer from her days as a cafeteria worker at Bayside Elementary, and baby-sitting neighborhood children from her home. She touched many lives and was a mother to all.

She will be missed dearly and forever be in all our hearts.

A funeral service will be held Sunday; August 27, 2023, 11:30am at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers St., Chesapeake, VA 23324. Viewing will be held 1hr prior to service. Please keep the family in your prayers.
