Chesapeake-Carolyn P. Davis Dodson was born Aug 8, 1949 to the late Texas Davis and Naomi W. Davis-Vick in Norfolk County (Chesapeake ) VA. On Wednesday; August 23, 2023, she went home to be with the Lord.

Carolyn was educated in the Chesapeake Public School system and graduated from George Washington Carver High School class of 1967.

In December 1968, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, the late Lemuel P. Dodson, Sr. To this union God blessed them with three children and nine grandchildren all of whom she adored. They had been married for 45 years at the time of his passing.

After more than 35 years of service at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, she retired in 1996. As a young woman, Carolyn accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. In 1972, she joined New Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church located in Chesapeake, VA where she served faithfully for more than 30 years. Her service included singing in the Gospel Choir, the No. 2 choir, Sr. choir, as well as serving on the Stewardess Board and as the Church Clerk for many years.

She was a woman of God who was blessed with many accolades. Carolyn then joined Trinity Faith Centre, Chesapeake, VA under the leadership of Bishop Jesse E. Featherston, Sr. where she was ordained a Minister of the Gospel. She served faithfully in this congregation until her failing health prevented her attendance. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

Carolyn never met a stranger that she was not willing to help or offer a word about the goodness of the Lord. She absolutely loved to talk. Her favorite saying, in coming "Praise the Lord" and "Blessed by the best and can't be no better" in departing.

Carolyn was predeceased by one sister and three brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories children: Farrah Montgomery (Gerry), Lemuel Dodson Jr. (Jessica), and Taramara 'Missy" Dodson (Allen); grandchildren: Kahleigh, Lemuel III, JaKyla, Kaleb, Leniyah, Madisen, Gerry Jr., Kumari and Genesis; six sisters, four brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, a host of cousins and dear friends.

A funeral will be 11:00 am Friday; September 1, 2023 at New Mt. Olive AME Church; Chesapeake, VA. Viewing will be 4-6pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens; Norfolk, VA
