Obituary For Andrea O. Scott

Chesapeake-Andrea Ola Scott transitioned to the heavens above Tuesday; May 21, 2024. She was born on born November 19, 1950 to the late Violet Wilson and was the third of six children.

Andrea and her family grew up in “Green Sea”, which is in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, Va. She graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1972. Andrea attended Gordon Chapel AME Church and accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She had two daughters, Manisha Butts and Latesha Scott, both from Chesapeake, Va.

After graduating from high school, she attended Tidewater Community College where she obtained multiple degrees. She was employed with Chesapeake Public Schools as a Substitute Teacher for many years. Andrea loved children and loved being a part of their daily lives. She retired from Southeastern Virginia Training Center after working tirelessly for 20 years.

In her spare time, you could catch Andrea on the diamond. Softball was her sport. She could hit AND run!!! She also loved to play the slot machines, It was nothing for her and Edora, or “Thelma and Louise” , to take a bus trip over the weekend to the Casino! Andrea was an awesome cook! Her family loved her sweet potato biscuits and candied yams. She would make them upon request until her health began to decline in 2012 after first being diagnosed with Cancer.

Andrea was a fighter! She fought long and hard with this debilitating disease for 19 years, until God called her home to be with him on May 21, 2024. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all who loved her; reminding us to cherish the moments we have with those we hold dear.

Andrea is predeceased by her mother, Violet Wilson and two brothers, Sherman Scott and Randy Scott. She leaves to cherish her memory, devoted daughters: Manisha Butts (Sean) and Latesha Scott; her special granddaughter, Miss Londyn Worthington (Bunny); sister, LaVerne Scott-Boykin (Ernest); brothers: Nathaniel Scott (Audrey) and William Wilson Jr (Charity); her “road dog”, Edora Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00am Thursday; May 30, 2024 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers Street, Chesapeake, VA 23324. Viewing will be 4-6pm Wednesday; May 29, 2024 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1821 Liberty St.; Chesapeake, VA 23324. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery; Norfolk, VA. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers!

    Manisha and Latesha and family I am saddened to hear of Cousin Andrea's passing. She now rests in the arms of our Father and suffers no more pain. I pray God's peace and comfort and may her Love and Memory continue to comfort and bring you joy!
