Chesapeake-Almeta Thomas, affectionately known as "Meka," entered eternal life on April 29, 2023. Almeta was born to Randolph and Carolyn Ellis in Philadelphia, PA on September 11, 1968.

She was raised in Chesapeake, VA, and graduated from Oscar Smith High School. She was well known for her sassy demeanor and famous eye roll that was felt by many.

She's preceded in death by Randolph Ellis (Father), Rudolph and Lula Mae Jones (Maternal Grandparents), Warren and Caroline Ellis (Paternal Grandparents), Rudolph Jones, Bobby Jones, and Thomas Lewis (Uncles), Harriet Aguilar (Aunt), and Michael Jones Jr. (Cousin). Almeta leaves behind her son, Reginald Thomas II; her mother, Carolyn Ellis; and her siblings: Shawn Ellis, Stephanie Ellis, Lanore Whitfield-Hughley, and Annette Lawrence; niece and nephew, Ashley C. Banks and Troyonne M. Ellis Sr.; and many other family and friends to cherish her beloved memory.

A funeral service will be held 12pm Wednesday; May 10, 2023 at First Baptist Church South Norfolk; Chesapeake, VA. Viewing will be held 4-6pm Tuesday; May 9, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery; Norfolk, VA.
